Your support is critical to rural LGBTQ+ liberation

Out in the Open connects rural LGBTQ+ people to build community, visibility, knowledge and power. In 2022, among other things, we launched the HEART Program and expanded our Summits for Rural & Small Town LGBTQ+ Folks!

  • The Health Equity & Access for Rural TLGBQ+ (HEART) Program

HEART program staff and volunteers ease the all too often and difficult experience of accessing healthcare as rural LGBTQ+ people by supporting each other in healthcare appointments, planning, transportation, and harm reduction. The HEART program proves that grassroots interventions can measurably improve rural LGBTQ+ healthcare outcomes.

  • Out in the Open Summits for Rural & Small Town LGBTQ+ Folks

In Monroe, ME and in Halifax, VT about 125 rural LGBTQ+ people gathered at our first Summits since the pandemic. We learned more than ever the importance of these gatherings when we had to go without these past two years.

To continue offering our work for low or no cost in 2023 we need to raise $35,000 by December 31, 2022.

LGBTQ+ liberation is a cross-class movement. We believe that all rural LGBTQ+ people should be able to access community.

As a small grassroots organization, your support is critical to us.

Please give what you can to sustain our work to build a multi-issue social justice movement led by rural LGBTQ+ people. Your donation will go directly to ensuring Out in the Open will be sustainable and strong enough to meet our mission now and long into the future.
